Learner Pathways at Active Futures Academy
Every student follows a bespoke pathway combining movement, practical expression, vocational qualifications, and core academic foundations.
Active Pathway
Designed for learners who thrive through kinetic engagement, outdoor learning, and practical movement. We integrate sport, physical fitness, and health across the entire week.
Sessions focus on developing physical well-being, communication, leadership, and emotional regulation techniques that students can apply outside of the classroom.
Vocational Qualifications:
- Level 1 Assisting Sport and Physical Activity Sessions
- Level 1 Fitness and Physical Activity
- Sports Leadership and First Aid Units
Creative Pathway
Supports young people who express themselves best through making, hands-on production, and digital creation. In our studio environment, students develop patience, focus, and fine motor skills.
Students explore textile design, woodwork, digital media, and craft production, turning creative concepts into physical outcomes.
Vocational Qualifications:
- Level 1 Textiles and Fabrics
- Level 1 Craft and Design
- Level 1 Working in Creative and Design Industries
Blended Pathway
The best of both worlds. The Blended Pathway allows students to balance physical activity with creative studio development based on their specific strengths and sensory profile.
This pathway is ideal for students who experience sensory overload or fatigue, requiring a diverse, dynamic daily routine to stay fully engaged.
Personalised Progression:
Qualification units and timetable blocks are tailored to the length of placement (e.g. 6-week turnaround, 12-week intervention, or full academic term).
English & Mathematics
Meaningful academic progression is non-negotiable. Every student receives structured instruction in Functional Skills English and Maths, delivered in micro-groups or 1:1.
Students build from Entry Level through to Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills, with support for GCSE preparation where appropriate.
Future Foundations
Wednesdays are dedicated to character development, emotional resilience, citizenship, relationships, and preparing for adulthood.
Students complete modular AQA Unit Awards and employability units that recognize real-world progress and positive contribution.
